the purpose of a company is not to make money

The purpose of an organisation is not to make money

… it is as absurd to say that the Purpose of an organisation is to make money as it is to say that the Purpose of a human being is to eat or breathe.

i think i’m paraphrasing Goldratt here:
- the goal is to make money, now and in the future
(me) ..in order to be able to do what you love, now and in the future

in other words, money is not the “why” but the “how”:

  • what: what you do for a living (and hopefully enjoy)
  • how: make money, now and in the future
  • why: to be able to continue doing what you enjoy
